Free Boiler Grants for Tenants

Thumb through the boiler grants available for Tenants.

Are you a private tenant? Feeling the constant pressure because of covering your house rent and tackling the soaring energy costs? Does your place need proper heating, insulation, or boiler upgrade? If the answer is yes, we have got fantastic news for you.

If you are a tenant and enjoying any benefits from the UK government, you may be eligible for free boiler grants. Under ECO4 Scheme, you can get free boiler replacement along with loft insulation.

Other options could be availed under this scheme. Some of these include first-time central heating and air-source heat pumps.

Purpose of the Free Boiler Scheme for Tenants

The main objective of the UK government's ECO4 initiative is to help low-income households—including rented ones—upgrade their heating systems. The program is in line with larger goals to encourage energy efficiency and lower carbon emissions by aiming to enhance energy efficiency, lower energy costs, and address fuel poverty.

Free Boiler Grants

Tenants in the UK can get government-backed funding for new boilers with their landlord’s approval. Check if you qualify for the free boiler grant scheme.

  • If you’re a tenant on government benefits with an old, faulty boiler, you could get a grant for a replacement.
  • Answer a few questions about yourself, your rented home, and your heating system to see if you’re eligible for a free boiler or grant funding.
  • After qualifying, our approved boiler installer will contact you for a quick survey of your home.

Low EPC Rating? Qualify for a Free Boiler Grant!

The EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) rating plays a crucial role in determining eligibility for a free boiler grant. If the EPC rating of your rented house is below D, you are eligible for a free boiler grant.

This rating reflects your home’s energy efficiency. Improving it with a new boiler not only helps the environment but also cuts energy costs for eligible households.

Qualification Standards for Boiler Grants for Tenants

If you’re a tenant and enjoying any benefits such as Guarantee Credit,  Universal Credit, Income Support or Child Tax Credit, you may qualify for boiler grants for tenants on benefits.

  • Your boiler is as old as 2005.
  • Your boiler must be a non-condensing boiler. Condensing boilers cannot be replaced.
  • Both landowner and tenant can apply for the grant. If the landowner isn’t aware of the government’s free boiler grant, the tenant may update them.
  • There is no age limit.
  • The main gas supply must be connected to your property.
  • An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) grade of D or lower is required for your property.

Please provide the complete and accurate address of your landlord as it appears on their Land Registry document. Share your WhatsApp number and we would be in touch with you in no time.

Why Apply For a Boiler Grant?

The cost of upgrading a gas boiler and installing special valves for heat control typically varies from £1,400 to £10,000.  And this is beyond the burden of an average tenant.

Tenants who cannot pay this cost may find it difficult to heat their homes during the winter. Fuel poverty, which affects many UK households, is another issue that can be addressed by applying for free boiler subsidies

When a household spends a large percentage of its income on energy and heating expenses, it is said to be in fuel poverty. With free boiler grants, tenants may combat cold drafts and achieve comfortable warmth while preserving cash for future needs.
